You can begin Montessori training without prior teaching experience if the course accepts beginners, but becoming effective in a Montessori classroom also requires observation, practice and familiarity with real children and materials.
What this means in practice
A foundational course can introduce Montessori philosophy, developmental principles and classroom organisation. It can also help you understand why the adult’s role differs from more teacher-directed approaches.
Employers may still prefer or require practical classroom exposure, a broader teaching qualification or training from a particular Montessori organisation. Building supervised experience is therefore valuable even when it is not an entry requirement for the course.
